المستخلص: إن الناظر في تاريخ العصور الوسطى المسيحية يجد أن بعض المفكرين قد وصموها بوصمة الظلام الدامس من الناحية الاجتماعية، أو الفكرية، أو الدينية، وهى وإن كان فيها بعض ما ذكروه إلا أنها لم تخل من نشاطات فكرية فلسفية ملموسة، نجد أبرزها في اهتمام فلاسفتها بقضية التوفيق بين الدين والفلسفة، وتحديد العلاقة بينهما؛ فجاءت هذه الدراسة لتلقي الضوء على فترة من أهم فترات التوفيق بين الدين والفلسفة، ألا وهو العصر الوسيط، وتلقي الضوء على أهم ملامح فلسفة ذاك العصر، وخصوصا عند القديس توما الإكويني، وما هي أبرز نقاط التوفيق بين الفلسفة والدين عنده، وقد تكون البحث من مقدمة، وثلاثة مباحث: المبحث الأول: علاقة الدين بالفلسفة، والمبحث الثاني: أهم ملامح فلسفة العصر الوسيط، والمبحث الثالث: التوفيق بين الدين والفلسفة عند توما الإكويني، وخاتمة: فيها أهم ما توصل إليه هذا البحث من نتائج، وتوصيات، وأهم المصادر والمراجع، وفهرس الموضوعات. المنهج: اتبعت في هذا البحث المنهج (الاستقرائي -الوصفي -التحليلي -النقدي) النتائج: من أهم النتائج: يعتبر القديس توما الإكويني قمة الفلسفة المدرسية في أواخر العصر الوسيط، كما كانت فلسفته هي الجامعة لكل المحاولات الفلسفية السابقة عليه من حيث الاعتماد على الأفكار الأرسطية في عرض حقائق الديانة المسيحية، فهي محاولة قائمة على الأصالة، داعية في الوقت ذاته إلى التجديد، كما كان الإكويني جريئا في عرض أفكاره الفلسفية، وأراد من الفلسفة أن تقدم للمجتمع حلولا مبتكرة دون معارضة الإيمان، بما دعا إليه من استقلالية كلا منهما منهجا، وتوافق كلا منهما مقصدا. التوصيات: الاهتمام بقضية التوفيق بين الدين والفلسفة، عن طريق رصدها، ورصد محاولات رجالها على مر العصور؛ بغية دفع الخلاف الذي أنشأه البعض بين الدين والفلسفة، كذلك الاهتمام بالأبحاث الفلسفية عموما، وتبسيطها، وتقريبها إلى الأذهان قدر الإمكان، وتوظيفها بما يخدم العقيدة الإسلامية.

The beholder in the history of the Christian Middle Ages finds that some thinkers have stigmatized it with the stigma of total darkness in terms of social, intellectual, or religious, and although some of what they mentioned, but it was not devoid of intellectual and philosophical activities concrete, we find the most prominent in the interest of its philosophers to reconcile religion and philosophy, and determine the relationship between them; this study came to shed light on one of the most important periods of reconciliation between religion and philosophy, namely the middle age, and shed light on the most important features of the philosophy of that era, especially when St. Thomas Aquinas, and what are the most prominent points of reconciliation between philosophy and religion, and may be research from an introduction, and three detectives: the first topic: The relationship of religion with philosophy, the second topic: the most important features of the philosophy of the Middle Ages, and the third topic: reconciling religion and philosophy when Thomas Aquinas, and conclusion: the most important findings of this research from the results, recommendations, and the most important sources and references, and the index of topics Method: this research followed the method (inductive descriptive- analytical- critical) Results: one of the most important results: St. Thomas Aquinas is considered the pinnacle of Scholastic philosophy in the late Middle Ages, as his philosophy was the University of all previous philosophical attempts in terms of relying on Aristotelian ideas in presenting the facts of the Christian religion, it is an attempt based on originality, calling at the same time to renewal, as Aquinas was bold in presenting his philosophical ideas, and wanted philosophy to provide society with innovative solutions without opposing the faith, with what he called the independence of both approaches, and the compatibility of both destinations. Recommendations: attention to the issue of reconciliation between religion and philosophy, by monitoring it, and monitoring the attempts of its men throughout the ages; in order to push the dispute created by some between religion and philosophy, as well as interest in Philosophical Research in general, and simplify it, and bring it closer to the mind as much as possible, and employ it to serve the Islamic faith.
