This study aimed to explore the effectiveness of pre-reading activities on EFL university students’ performance in reading comprehension. The participants of the study consisted of 90 students who were selected randomly from EFL third year students, International Business Division at Higher Institute for Computers, Information and Management Technology during the 2017/2018 academic year. The participants (N=90) were divided into two groups: an experimental group (45 students) and a control group (45 students). The two groups were pretested before the treatment. The researcher used the pre-reading activities (KWL and Brainstorming) when teaching the experimental group, whereas the students in the control group studied according to the regular set course. At the end of the treatment, the two groups were post tested. ANOVA was used to determine the difference between the two groups using SPSS. The study revealed that there was a statistical significant difference between the two groups that favored the experimental group. Some pedagogical implications, recommendations and suggestions for further studies were provided according to the results of the study.
