This study aimed to investigate the impact of the Facebook environment on EFL students’ vocabulary development. Sixty students were randomly selected from EFL first year students, (Management Information Systems Division), Tanta Higher Institute for Computers, Information and Management Technology during the second semester of the academic year 2017-2018. The sixty students were divided randomly into a control group (N=30) and an experimental group (N=30). The control group studied according to the ordinary class-based instruction method while the experimental group used both face-to-face lectures in addition to using a Facebook group entitled "English Group-First Year". Both of the two groups sat for a pretest at the beginning of the treatment and a posttest at the end of the treatment. Data obtained were logged and analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences software program SPSS, version 21. The results revealed statistically significant differences, in favor of the experimental group students due to using Facebook. Conclusions, pedagogical implications and suggestions for further research were provided in the light of the study results.
