المستخلص: This study aims at determining the needs of learners enrolled in an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) course in a private language school in Algeria. It was carried out in El Nour school in the city of Touggourt. The sample included ten participants who were selected randomly and data were collected using an interview conducted with learners before taking the course. The qualitative analysis of the obtained results showed that learners' major goal in learning English was to improve their speaking ability and overcome the difficulties they face when speaking English. This study could be of great benefit to many ESP teachers, researchers, and course designers as it presents the main procedures for conducting a needs analysis. Moreover, the findings resulting from the needs analysis will provide an insight into ESP learners' goals, needs, and weaknesses that will pave the way for designing courses that would meet these concerns.
