المستخلص: Comprehension and oral communication course is suggested to be a valuable source to give language input. However, there is valid concern whether such course enhance speaking skill for every student. The aim of the present study is to explore the merit of the course, and highlight the potentially impacts it can have on student learning. A total of 60 students from department of English at Batna 2 university participated in the study. Data were sought from online questionnaire. The study found that a wide range of problems concerning the role of the course are held by students, that there is teachers’ unwillingness, lack of students’ motivation, no fixed syllabus, limited exposure to authentic environment. The results also showed that these problems can be remedied by using more authentic materials, integration of technology to raise students’ willingness, and revising the content of syllabus.
