المستخلص: Le FOS, un sous-champ du FLE, correspond à un enseignement de français qui répond à une demande faite par un certain organisme en vue d'assurer en un laps de temps limité une formation linguistique s'adressant à un public adulte déjà actif et voulant apprendre DU français et non pas LE français. Un tel enseignement présente un intérêt particulier aux secteurs public et privé aussi bien ceux du monde professionnel que ceux de l'enseignement supérieur, des secteurs qui chercheraient à faire acquérir à leurs publics respectifs les capacités et les compétences non seulement linguistiques mais aussi culturelles nécessaires à leurs activités. Aussi le FOS se subdivise-t-il en deux sous-champs, le Français sur objectifs professionnels (FOP) et le Français sur objectifs universitaires (FOU). Le premier est en rapport direct avec le monde professionnel et correspond à des enseignements personnalisés qui prennent en compte le niveau, le contexte professionnel et les objectifs de chaque public. Il répond donc aux besoins des personnes, des entreprises et des organisations qui utilisent le français comme langue de travail. Quant au second, il s'adresse à des étudiants, leur apporte une formation linguistique adaptée à leurs objectifs et à leurs besoins et vise ainsi à leur permettre d'accéder aux spécificités de leurs études et de réussir leur parcours universitaire. Contrairement à un enseignement dit << généraliste », le FOS constitue un enseignement sur mesure qui nécessite un traitement au cas par cas entraînant l'élaboration d'un programme particulier adapté à la demande, correspondant à des situations déterminées et répondant à des besoins spécifiques. Aussi un enseignement de FOS exige-t-il de l'enseignant- concepteur d'intégrer un domaine qui lui est assez souvent inconnu ou peu connu. Il se doit alors d'entrer en contact avec les acteurs du milieu, de collaborer avec eux afin d'analyser les besoins, de collecter les données, de les analyser à leur tour et d'être finalement capable de concevoir un programme adapté aux objectifs visés.

FOS, a subfield of FLE, corresponds to French teaching, which responds to a request made by a certain organization with a view to providing, in a limited period, language training aimed at an already active adult public and wanting to learn from French not to learn French. Such teaching is of particular interest to the public and private sectors, both those of the professional world and those of higher education, sectors which would seek to enable their respective public to acquire the capacities and skills not only linguistic but also cultural necessary to their activities. Therefore, the FOS is subdivided into two subfields, French for professional objectives (FOP) and French for university objectives (FOU). The first is directly related to the professional world and corresponds to personalized lessons, which take into account the level, professional context, and objectives of each public. It therefore meets the needs of individuals, businesses and organizations who use French as a working language. As for the second, it is aimed at students, provides them with language training adapted to their objectives and their needs and thus aims to enable them to access the specificities of their studies and to succeed in their university career. Unlike the so-called "general" education, FOS constitutes tailor-made education, which requires treatment on a case-by-case basis leading to the development of a particular program adapted to demand, corresponding to specific situations and meeting specific needs. Also, teaching FOS requires the teacher-designer to integrate a field which is quite often unknown or little known to him. He must then come into contact with stakeholders in the field, collaborate with them in order to analyze needs, collect data, analyze them in turn and finally be able to design a program adapted to the objectives.
