المستخلص: Before we move to demonstrating this dimension, we will first focus on demonstrating its significance. To do this, we will remind ourselves that before a proper noun achieves this status, it is first a common noun and as such, it is necessarily significant. Furthermore, the demonstration of places is not arbitrary. It is justified by the particularities it evokes. The toponym is also altering in that it follows the various historical changes. It retains traces of these changes within itself. As such, the toponym, more than any other linguistic element, is patrimonial.

Avant de passer à la démonstration de cette dimension patrimoniale du toponyme, nous nous attellerons à en démontrer la signifiance. Pour cela, nous rappellerons qu’avant d’accéder à ce statut, un nom propre est pris de la langue courante et en tant que nom commun, il était doté de sens, il était donc signifiant. En outre, la dénomination des lieux toponymes et micro-toponymes, n’est pas arbitraire: elle se justifie par les particularismes qu’elle évoque. Le toponyme est par ailleurs fluctuant, en ce sens qu’il épouse les différents changements historiques. Il garde en son sein les traces des changements subis par le territoire. A ce titre, le toponyme, plus que tout autre élément linguistique est patrimonial.
