The current study delves into climate communication, with a focus on English- Arabic translation. It examines the role of euphemisms in translating English climate change reports into Arabic and their impact on communication and perception. Climate-related terms can be both a bridge and a barrier to conveying environmental concerns. The research rigorously assesses the effects of euphemistic translations versus direct ones, covering positive framing, simplification, urgency mitigation, greenwashing, and tonal softening. The choice of translation significantly influences how individuals from diverse backgrounds comprehend climate-related information. In conclusion, the study offers essential recommendations, highlighting the significance of cultural sensitivity and linguistic clarity. For effective climate communication, it discourages overly literal translations, advocates for tailored messaging, and emphasises ethical communication practices |
