المستخلص: The aim of this study is to examine English language learners' perceptions regarding the impact of reading novels on enhancing their language skills. The research was conducted at the Faculty of Languages, English Language Department, El-Merghib University, Libya. Six undergraduate students volunteered to participate in the study. This study seeks to determine whether students believe that reading English novels can help improve their overall English language proficiency and, more specifically, enhance their various language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Additionally, it explores the extent to which participants can comprehend the cultural differences between their own culture and the English culture portrayed in the novels. The research follows a qualitative approach, utilizing qualitative semi-structured interviews with the students. In general, the learners held positive perceptions about the impact of reading English novels on their English language development. However, their perceptions of the effect on English language skills varied. Furthermore, the cultural insights that the novels were expected to provide to the students did not meet their expectations.
