المستخلص: This research paper aimes to explore the obstacles encountered by the 4th level students while translating the Yemeni colloquial proverbs from Arabic into English. To achieve the aims of this study, the researcher selected a random sample of 30 students from the 4th level students, Faculty of Languages and Translation, Aden University. The researcher designed a translation test for the students and an open- ended questionnaire for four translation teachers to obtain more information about the obstacles encountered by students while translating Yemeni colloquial proverbs and the reasons stand behind these obstacles. The study revealed that, the 4th level students encountered some obstacles such as: Inability to achieve the correct equivalence, inability to translate culturally bound expressions like proverbs, unfamiliarity with strategies used to translate proverbs, inability to understand the background of the proverb, giving wrong TL equivalent, the literal translation and misuse of the relevant lexical words, committing linguistic, stylistic, and grammatical mistakes, irrelevant meaning, wrong paraphrasing.
