|b This paper analyzes the semantic and syntactic functions of "più" in contemporary italian, examining texts from Corriere della Sera from 2014 to 2015. The paper analyzes the nature and origins of "più", the morpho-syntactic and semantic function of "più" in the comparison structures or the comparative sentence and the use of "più" as an adjective and noun and in the various verbal and temporal locutions. These schemes underlines how the use of grammatical elements (articles prepositions), that precede or follow "più", should be taken into consideration because of their clear reflections on its semantic functions in various contexts. The contrastive study analyzes the direct and indirect mechanisms, that help to find the suitable arabic correspondents for the structure and semantics of the context, and those elements that reinforce the meaning of the sentence.
