المستخلص: The purpose of this paper is to investigate English teachers’ teaching practices, their perspectives, and teaching materials towards the effect of using Digital short stories in teaching oral expression based on students’ listening to digital short stories. In addition, it aims to highlight the importance of developing undergraduate students’ communicative competence. The aim of the paper is also to investigate the effect of using short stories in oral expression sessions with Second year students to develop their communicative competence. In light of that, a questionnaire administered to instructors of oral expression (16 Instructors) at Oum El Bouaghi University. Data treated using statistical software program (SPSS 23) and the results demonstrated statistical difference with teachers’ responses. Accordingly, implications indicate that teachers of oral should vary their teaching materials and add more digital resources in their teaching practices to foster students’ communicative competence.
