لقد اهتم العلماء وخصوصاً علماء النفس فيما يخص الإدراك والتعلم والنمو الحركي والنمو المعرفي وفي المجالات التربوية التي تعتمد على النشاط الحركي مثل التربية البدنية والحركية؛ لذلك ونظراً لهذا الاهتمام اتجه العلماء إلى دراسة القدرات الإدراكية- الحركية التي أظهرت مفاهيم ونظريات وأدوات لقياس هذه القدرات وعلاقتها بجوانب نموها المختلفة الحركية والمعرفية والوجدانية لتحديد المشكلات التي يواجهها الطفل نتيجة القصور في نمو هذه القدرات، لذلك تعد نظرية كيفارت التي تهتم بدراسة القدرات الإدراكية- الحركية من أهم هذه النظريات لاستخدامها. ومن هنا جاءت مشكلة البحث إذ إن ذلك يؤثر على خط الشروع في تعلمهم للمهارات الحركية عندما يكون بين الأعمار ، لذا تكتسب دراسة تطور ونمو القدرات الإدراكية- الحركية لتلاميذ المرحلة الابتدائية أهمية خاصة في إعطاء تصور دقيق لمعرفة التطور لهذه القدرات، كما تسمح مثل هذه القياسات بإجراء المقارنات بين التلاميذ في عمر معين فضلاً عن إمكانية إجراء نفس القياسات على أعمار مختلفة لمعرفة المتغيرات أو تطور أداء التلميذ للقدرات الإدراكية- الحركية لذا فإن الباحثان يأملان أن يضعا دراسة تبين أهمية القدرات الإدراكية- الحركية لتلاميذ المرحلة الابتدائية، تساعد الباحثين والمختصين في وضع البرامج المتكاملة من أجل الوصول بتلاميذ هذه المرحلة العمرية إلى النمو المتكامل. \
