المستخلص: هدفت الدراسة إلى تعرف دور أولياء الأمور في تعزيز المهارات القيادية لدى أبنائهم من خلال الاستجابات التي حصل عليها الباحث عن طريق المقابلات التي أجراها مع أفراد عينة الدراسة. تكونت عينة الدراسة من سبعة عشر طالبا وطالبة (ثمانية ذكور وتسع إناث) من المدارس الثانوية من أعضاء المجلس الطلابي التابع لمنطقة العين التعليمية في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، قام الباحث بمقابلة الطلاب وقامت إحدى زميلاته بمقابلة الطالبات من أفراد عينة الدراسة. ودلت نتائج الدراسة المستوحاة من استجابات المشاركين على أن أولياء الأمور يلعبون أدوارا هامة في تعزيز المهارات القيادية لدى أبنائهم. وفي تعزيز وزيادة التحصيل الأكاديمي لدى الأبناء وأن الترابط العائلي يمكن أن يساعدهم في تنبؤ أساليب القيادة. كما بينت النتائج أن أولياء الأمور يقومون بأدوار هامة في تعزيز كغايات اجتماعية وتطوير المهن وتشجيع التفكير الناقد وتعزيز التفاعل بينهم وبين أبنائهم ومساعدتهم للحصول على المعرفة المتعلقة بالقيادة وفهم التاريخ والقيم ومعتقدات مجتمعهم، وبناء على نتائج الدراسة فقد قدم الباحث بعض التوصيات.

The role of parents in enhancing leadership skills through the words of their children was chosen as the purpose of this study. The sample of this study included seventeen individuals, eight males and nine females from middle and high schools, who were interviewed by the researcher and a female colleague, who volunteered to interview female students. All of the participants were council members in one educational district in the United Arab Emirates. This council gives students leadership opportunities in addition to the chance to express their ideas. The study results indicated that parents play a significant role in terms of enhancing leadership skills of their children. Parents enhance the possibilities of their children’s success in achieving, academic and social competence, career development, critical thinking and interpersonal skills. Parents also provide leadership skills, foster parent-child interaction, help their children acquire knowledge related to leadership, and understand their own societal history, values as well as beliefs. Additionally, the results showed that parents help in the development of moral principles and values, encourage consciousness, awareness, acceptance of other people, cultures, and societies plus engaging them in school/community services. Parents involve their children in mutual experiences, cooperation, teamwork, networking with colleagues, and social groups, associations with mentors, helpful role models, and other members of the society.
