المستخلص: This study sets out to contribute to a multi-media syllabus design for Islamic preacher-students at Al-Azhar University. For this purpose, the study seeks to answer the following research questions: 1. What do preaching-students at Al-Azhar University need of the most recent technologies to employ in their Islamic-preaching from the perspective of students, experts and specialists? 2. In the light of student needs, what are the aims of the proposed multi-media syllabus from the perspective of experts and specialists? 3. In the light of these aims, what is the proposed multi-media syllabus? 4. What is the impact of the proposed multi-media syllabus on each of the following: -Cognitive achievement of the innovative technologies -Actual use of the innovative technologies skills -Attitude towards employing the innovative technologies in their Islamic preaching 5. What is the impact of interaction between the study of an Islamic preaching multi-media syllabus and the change of the pedagogic pattern (tutoring- practice and drill) on: -Cognitive achievement of the innovative technologies -Actual use of the innovative technologies skills -Attitude towards employing the innovative technologies in their Islamic preaching 6. What is the impact of interaction between the study of an Islamic-preaching multi-media syllabus and the change of the research sample (Arabic-language Islamic preaching- other language Islamic-preaching) on: -Cognitive achievement of the innovative technologies -Actual use of the innovative technologies skills -Attitude towards employing the innovative technologies in their Islamic preaching 7. What is the impact of interaction between the pedagogic pattern (tutoring- practice and drill) and the research sample (Arabic-language Islamic preaching- other language Islamic preaching) on: -Cognitive achievement of the innovative technologies -Actual use of the innovative technologies skills -Attitude towards employing the innovative technologies in their Islamic preaching The method The study made use of two research strategies: survey and experimentation. The experimental design was 2X2 factorial design. The experimental variable was the computer program with two levels: pattern of pedagogy and different sampling. The dependent variables involved: (a) cognitive achievement of the innovative technologies; (b) actual use of the innovative technologies skills; and (c) attitude towards employing the innovative technologies in their Islamic preaching. The research sample comprised a number of the fourth year Islamic preaching students at both the Faculty of Islamic Preaching and the Faculty of Languages and Translation (Department of English). The data-gathering instruments involved student questionnaire and specialist/expert questionnaire (Delphi Technique). It also included an achievement test targeting the cognitive elements of the study as well as an observation scheme targeting student skills. The study also made use of an attitude scale targeting the affective elements.

Main Findings The study found Islamic-preaching students lack general needs of new technologies of three types. These involved computer-related needs, Internet-related needs of fourteen components, and new multimedia technologies which in turn involved eight needs relating to ways of presentation. The study also reached a list of syllabus aims for those students. It also found significant differences at 0.05 between those students who studied a new technology-based syllabus regardless of the way of presenting it and those who did not study it at the cognitive and psychomotor level of employing the new technologies in favor of the experimental groups. However, it found no differences between the groups in their attitude toward employing these technologies. There were no significant differences between the groups regarding the effect of interaction between the study of new technology-based syllabus and the change of way of presentation (tutoring- practice and drill) in the students' cognitive achievement and attitudes towards employing the new technologies in the field of Islamic preaching. However, it found differences between the groups in their skills due to the way of presentation. The study also found differences between the groups in their skills, cognitive achievement and attitudes due to type of sampling (Arabic-medium Islamic preaching and language students).
