A multi-level analysis focuses on lexical and grammatical ambiguity, syntactic structure and on semantic transfer from the source language into the target language. Meanwhile, the multi-level evaluation concentrates on the dimensions of adequacy, accuracy and acceptability of this type of automatic translation. To carry out this study, six English and Arabic texts have been randomly selected and translated from the source language into the target language by using more than one of the available online machine translation systems: Al-Kafi, Al- Wafi, An-Nakel, Al-Misbar, Tarjim of Ajeeb and Google Research. Analysis and evaluation of the output of these translations have shed light on two dimensions: the first is adequacy evaluation, a recurrent theme in machine translation literature, that tries to determine fitness of machine translation systems within a specified operational context; the other falls under what has been termed in MT literature as “diagnostic evaluation” that tries to identify errors, deficiencies and limitations, and loss of meaning in general. The results of this evaluative analysis revealed that no system can produce the least acceptable output, despite the claim that MT is fired up by the globalization of the Net. The results also showed that there are apparent differences between the outputs of these systems used in translating the same text. This analysis revealed that the pedantic and rigid way of translations increased the dilemma of the incorrect production of the available online machine translation systems from English into Arabic and vice versa , either.
