المستخلص: The purpose of this study was to test the effect of some self- monitoring strategies) the Goal- Ranking and Matching, Directed Paraphrasing, the One-Sentence Summary, the one-Minute- Paper and Regular Self- monitoring ( on improving pre-service teachers’ listening skills. Two instruments were developed and validated. They werel) a listening micro-skills questionnaire and 2) a pre-post listening test. The subjects were 60 of the third-year English majors at Ismailia Faculty of Education who had not studied a listening course in separate. They were divided into two groups; one experimental group was taught a proposed course treated with the above-mentioned strategies and a control group the same course with the traditional method in which students listen to the audio once or twice and then the teacher explains the text or conversation sentence by sentence. Results revealed that there was a more positive effect of those strategies on improving the pre-service teachers’ listening skills than the traditional method.
