|b If the direction of time is towards the future, is the future situated on the right side or on the left side? Some theories assume that this direction is related to the orientation of reading and writing a language. However, the question is: what happens for bilinguals whose languages are read and written in opposite directions? Empirical results from 10-11 years old Moroccan and French children show that bilingual children are more «flexible» than monolinguals, whatever their languages. If the former take into account the orientation of three pictures on a table (Left -Right or Left-Right), the behaviors of the latter are only congruent with the direction of Arabic or French.
