This study tries to investigate anxiety among first level students at central campus of Khartoum University. The researchers applied the descriptive- correlation method in carrying out this study. Stratified random sampling method used in selecting a sample of (247) students (105) male and (142) female students. The tools of data collection consist of the following parts: Basic information sheet, Taylor Anxiety scale, and Cooper Smith Self-concept Scale. The data manipulated by Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) using the following tests; Pearson Correlation Coefficient, T-test, and One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The most important results of the study are: Anxiety is statistically below average among first level students of central campus in University of Khartoum. There is a significant negative correlation between anxiety with self-concept among first level students of central campus in University of Khartoum. There is a significant difference in anxiety according to students’ gender in favor of male students. There is a significant difference in anxiety according to students' place of residence (boarding-house, relatives, and family) i.e. students who reside with relatives suffer more from anxiety. Finally, recommendations and suggestions for further studies, references and appendices were cited at the end of the study.\
