المستخلص: The study aimed at exploring prospective special education teachers’ computer competencies and their conceptions about using computers in teaching students with disabilities reading, writing and mathematics. 150 prospective special education teachers were surveyed using a researcher-developed questionnaire. In addition, qualitative data was collected through interviewing 30 prospective teachers. Results revealed distinguished and satisfactory levels of computer competencies in the areas of classroom management, and communication and information resources; and poor level in the area of instruction and assessment. Also, prospective special education teachers did not understand the role that computer technology can play in teaching and learning of students with disabilities. Recommendations for improving teacher technology preparation is also discussed.
