|b This research addresses two questions, the first of which seeks to identify the phenomenon at issue: What are the most prominent patterns of response to women's poetry in Ancient Arabic criticism? The second question seeks annex planation of the phenomenon: What are the reasons for approaching women's poetry in these ways? To answer these two questions, there are various patterns to the reception of women's poetry in ancient Arabic criticism, which have also been shown to be related to patterns of criticism in modern Arabic culture, as they appear in some modern writings. It discusses the frequency of these approaches in four sets of evidence: a glossary of famous critical phrases, the withholding and distorting of the names of female poets, the autobiographies of female poets written by critics and some titles of ancient critical books. The study concludes with a logical explanation of the persistence of this phenomenon.
