هدفت الدراسة إلى التعرف على دوافع واستخدامات الجوال لدى طلبة جامعة الملك عبد العزيز؛ وذلك للتعرف على حدود وطبيعة اتجاهات الشباب السعودي نحو التطبيقات التكنولوجية للجوال وتحديد الطرح المستقبلي لعلاقة الشباب السعودي باستخدامات الجوال، وتأثير المتغيرات الديموغرافية (النوع والسن والدخل) على ذلك. اعتمدت الباحث على منهج مسح العينة من مجتمع طلاب الجامعة بهدف التعرف على دوافعهم واستخداماتهم للجوال، واعتمدت الدراسة على صحيفة استبانة من إعداد الباحثة اشتملت على عشرة أسئلة تقيس الأهداف التي تحاول الباحثة الوصول إليها من خلال إجابة المبحوثين عليها، وقد طبقت الدراسة على عينة قوامها 500 مبحوث من طلاب وطالبات جامعة الملك عبد العزيز. توصلت الدراسة لمجموعة من النتائج من أهمها ارتفاع كثافة عدد الذين يمتلكون الجوال في العينة، كما وجدت الدراسة أن هناك علاقات ارتباطية ذات دلالات إحصائية بين كل من متغير كثافة استخدام الجوال والدوافع النفعية عند العينة، وكذلك بين متغير كثافة استخدام الجوال ومدى الاهتمام به لدى المبحوثين وبين متغير كثافة استخدام الجوال ونمط استخدامه، وأكدت الدراسة إلى أن فئات الذكور والإناث تتشابه في استخدام الجوال لأهداف ودوافع نفعية، بينما تشير النتائج إلى أن الإناث أكثر استخداما للجوال لأهداف طقوسية. وأشارت النتائج إلى عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين فئات الدخل في دوافع استخدام الجوال النفعية والطقوسية. وانتهت الدراسة إلى أنه كلما تباينت الفروق العمرية تباينت كثافة الاستخدام، وقد أوصت الدراسة إلى أهمية توعية وتثقيف المجتمع بأنماط استخدامات الجوال المختلفة لاستثمار هذه التقنية بشكل إيجابي وفعال.
The aim of the study is to identify the motives for mobile phones usage among students of King Abdul Aziz University in KSA. This is in order to recognize the nature of the Saudi youth attitudes towards technological applications of mobile phones and the future relationship between Saudi youth and mobile phones uses and the impact of demographic variables (gender, age and income). The researcher conducted a survey on a sample of 500 university stu¬dents in order to identify their motivations and uses of smart phones. This Study relied on questionnaire as a research tool, which consisted of ten questions in order to measure the goals and objectives of the study The study found a group of important results, e.g. those who own mo¬bile phones in the sample are extremely high in percentage. The study also found that there is a statistically significant relationship between heavy usage of mobile phones and the instrumental motivation varia¬bles among the sample, also between the heavy usage of smart phones and the extent of interest in these smart phones by the participants and also between heavy usage of smart phones and the pattern of use . The study confirmed that both males and females are similar in their us¬age of smart phones for instrumental purposes, while the results suggest that females more commonly use smart phones for ritualistic purposes. The results indicated that there were no statistically significant differ¬ences between income groups in their usage of smart phones for in¬strumental and ritualistic motives. However, the study concluded that the more varied age differences, the more varied the usage. Finally, the study recommended the importance of educating the community about the different types of uses of smart phones in order to invest in this tech¬nology positively and effectively.
