|a لم تعد نماذج الأعمال القديمة ملائمة لبيئة أعمال الحديثة، إذ أن التنافسية والتمايز لم تترك أي مجال للخطأ والعيوب في تقديم المنتجات أو الخدمات. فيجب على إدارة الشركات كسب رضا الزبائن والبحث عن طرق جديدة تتجاوز توقعاتهم وبالشكل الذي يضمن تحقيق أهداف الشركة من ربحية وبقاء. وعليه ظهر منهج six sigma كجزء من ثقافة الشركات حيث أن تحقيق مستوى عال من الجودة سوف يعمل على تقليل عدد الوحدات المعابة من الإنتاج مما ينعكس على كلف الجودة حيث يقلل من كلف المرفوض داخلياً وكذلك تقليل المعاد أو المرفوض الخارجي، ويحصل ذلك من خلال استخدام منهج six sigma منهجيات معينة مثل (DMAIC و DMADV) تعمل على تقليل المعاب سواء في مراحل تصميم المنتج والعملية أو من خلال التحسين المستمر للعمليات القائمة. وبناءا على ما تقدم جاء هذا البحث ليسلط الضوء على ماهية six sigma باعتبارها منهج علمي متطور، وطريقة عملها ومنهجيات استخدامها في مجالات تحسين مستوى الجودة مما ينعكس إيجابا على رفع مستوى الأداء المتميز للشركة وتحقيق إستراتيجيها بشكل علمي ورشيد وانعكاس ذلك على خفض الكلف بالشكل الذي يحسن من ربحية الشركة ويعزز من قدرتها التنافسية. وبناءا على ذلك تضمنت محاور البحث الإطار المعرفي لــــ six sigma ومن ثم عرض مدخل نظري إلى خفض كلف الجودة ومن بعدها بيان علاقة six sigma بالجودة وكلفها ليختتم البحث بجانبه التطبيقي.
