المستخلص: يعد تطوير مهارات أعضاء هيئة التدريس ركيزة أساسية في تطوير العملية التعليمية في مؤسسات التعليم العالي والدفع بمسيرتها إلى الأمام في ظل الانفجار المعرفي وتحديات العولمة. فتطوير عضو هيئة التدريس من خلال التدريب على طرائق واستراتيجيات تدريسية حديثة وأساليب التقويم المختلفة واستراتيجيات إدارة العملية التعليمية والمهارات التطويرية التي يحتاجها في العملية التدريسية وتطوير الذات يعد عاملا أساسيا في تطوير الأداء الأكاديمي للجامعة.
يعتبر عضو هيئة التدريس في مؤسسات التعليم العالي العنصر الفعال والرئيسي في جودة البرامج والأنشطة التعليمية على اختلاف أهدافها، ووجود عضو هيئة التدريس متميز ينعكس إيجابا على الكفاءة الداخلية والخارجية للبرامج الأكاديمية.
وتعتمد الجودة الكلية لمؤسسة التعليم العالي على نوعية أعضاء هيئة التدريس بها، لأن عضو هيئة التدريس المتميز يضع البرامج والمناهج المتطورة التي تهدف إلى ضمان خريج متميز وقوي، وفتح قنوات اتصال بينه وبين بيئته المحيطة حتى يمكن أن يكون شريكا فعالا في برامج التنمية الوطنية، والإسهام في البحث والتنقيب العلمي من أجل المساهمة في تقديم الرؤي العلمية لحل مشكلات التنمية.
إن عضو هيئة التدريس الذي تحتاجه الأجيال في هذا العصر الذي يشهد طوفانا معرفيا، وتدفقا للمعلومات، وثورة في وسائل الاتصال وتكنولوجيا المعرفة، وتنوعا في أساليب التربية والتعليم، هو عضو هيئة تدريس ذو إمكانيات ومؤهلات وقدرات ومواصفات نوعية ومتطورة كي تتواءم مع التطورات المذهلة التي يشهدها العالم في مضمار البحث والتعليم العالي، إذ لم تعد الأدوات القديمة قادرة على تلبية متطلبات العصر واحتياجات الأجيال والمجتمعات الجديدة. وعلى ذلك فإن عضو هيئة التدريس الذي نتوق إليه هو أستاذ وباحث ومرب وعضو فاعل في خدمة مجتمعه والمجتمع الإنساني عموما، وهو مسلح بالثقافة المعاصرة والقديمة، وبمعرفة بعض اللغات العالمية الحية، وعلى علاقة حميمة مع تكنولوجيا المعرفة والاتصال، وملم بأساليب تدريس تخصصه، ويتابع ما يجد من المعرفة ومن كل جديد في مجال تخصصه.

The development of the skills of the faculty members is a key element in the development of the educational process in institutions of higher education and move forward in the light of the knowledge explosion and the challenges of globalization. The development of faculty members through training in modern teaching methods and strategies, different evaluation methods, management strategies and developmental skills needed in the teaching process and self development is a key factor in the development of academic performance of the university.
The faculty member in the higher education institutions is considered the main and effective element in the quality of the educational programs and activities of different objectives, and the presence of a distinguished faculty member reflected positively on the internal and external efficiency of academic programs.
The overall quality of the institution of higher education depends on the quality of the faculty members, because the distinguished faculty member sets up advanced programs and curricula aimed at ensuring a distinguished and strong graduate and opening channels of communication between him and his surroundings so that he can be an effective partner in national development programs. Research and scientific exploration in order to contribute to the presentation of scientific visions to solve the problems of development.
A faculty member that needs generations in this age of knowledge, information flow, revolution in communication and knowledge technology, and a variety of educational methods, is a faculty member with the potential, qualifications, capabilities and quality standards developed to cope with the world's spectacular developments. In the field of research and higher education, as old tools are no longer able to meet the requirements of the age and the needs of new generations and societies. Therefore, the faculty member we aspire to is a professor, researcher and educator and an active member in the service of his society and the human society in general. He is armed with contemporary and ancient culture, with knowledge of some of the world's living languages, and an intimate relationship with the technology of knowledge and communication. Of knowledge and of every new in his field of specialization.
