تعد الجامعة من أهم مؤسسات التغيير والتطوير في المجتمعات من خلال وظائفها المختلفة وخاصة كمسئولة عن إجراء البحوث والدراسات في جميع مجالات الحياة والمعرفة، حيث تشكل الدراسات العليا محور الزاوية في التنمية الشاملة والتقدم الحضاري للمجتمعات، إذ تتخرج منها الكوادر البشرية الرائدة القادرة على تطوير المجتمع وتنميته، ونظرا لما تمثله هذه الوظيفة من أهمية في قرن يطلق عليه عصر اقتصاد المعرفة، أو الاقتصاد القائم على التعلم، وأهمية إعداد مخرج تعليمي جامعي قادر على- ليس فقط- العطاء والتكيف مع متطلبات هذا العصر بل التحديث والتوجيه لهذا العصر، ومع هذه الأهمية إلا أنه توجد العديد من الصعوبات التي تواجه طلاب التعليم الجامعي عامة وطلاب الدراسات العليا خاصة، ونتيجة لكل هذه الصعوبات خاصة تلك التي تواجه طلاب الدراسات العليا وتوصية العديد من الدراسات بضرورة الاهتمام بتكوين وإعداد طلاب الدراسات العليا، لذا يسعى البحث الحالي لتعرف الخبرة الاسترالية في دعم طلاب الدراسات العليا بجامعاتها من خلال دراسة اثنوجرافية عايشها الباحث أثناء مهمته العلمية لجامعة فيكتوريا بملبورن بأستراليا، وقد تناول البحث العديد من أساليب الدعم الأكاديمي المقدم لطلبة الدراسات العليا بجامعة فيكتوريا مثل حلقات الكتابة، سفراء البحوث، الاستشارات الفردية، التفرغ للكتابة، وغيرها من الأساليب. وقد أوصى البحث بتبني هذه الأساليب في الجامعات العربية لتجويد إعداد خريجي الدراسات العليا.
The university is one the most important change and development institutions in the communities through its different functions and specifically as responsible for conducting research in all areas of life and knowledge, where graduate studies are significantly central in the overall development and progress of civilization of societies, as graduates from it human resources leader capable of developing society and its development, because as it represents the position of importance in a century-called era of the knowledge economy, or the economy based on learning, and the importance of preparing an educational outlet university capable on- not only - tender and adapt to the requirements of this era, but update and guidance for this day and age, however this importance, there are many of the difficulties facing public higher education students graduate students, as a result of all these difficulties facing the postgraduate students and the recommendation of many of the studies need to address the composition and preparation of graduate students, so seeking the current study to see Australian expertise in support of graduate students at its universities through an ethnographic study had been done by the researcher during the scientific mission at the Victoria University Melbourne, Australia. The study dealt with a number of academic supports for graduate students at the University of Victoria methods such as writing circles, research ambassadors, individual consulting, a full-time writing, and other methods. The study recommended the adoption of these methods in Arab universities to improve the preparation of graduates.
