المستخلص: Cognitive linguistic trend represents a new method of dealing with situated meaning. This trend is interested in the relation of language, mind and experience which include the social, physical and environmental experience. It goes without saying that the cognitive conception trend gave metaphor an important role in understanding the world and determining our daily realities. As the major part of our cognitive pattern is metaphorical, “LakofF and “Johnson” determined three kinds of conceptual metaphor commonly used in our daily life: orientational metaphor, ontological metaphor, and structural metaphor. It is easy for any observer of Mahmoud Darwich’s poetic collection of Limaza tarakt al-hissan wahidan (Why Did You Leave the Horse Alone), to recognize that the collection is built upon multiple metaphors that interacts between each others. The conceptual structure that guides Darwichs poems in the previously stated collection has basically a metaphorical nature. We have observed poetic models that contains orientational metaphor derived from our direct physical experience with our surrounding. To give but an example the metaphor subdual, humiliation = down /conscious= up / unconscious= down / futures in front. In addition, the structural metaphors were strongly present in the text of Darwish and were reflected in the metaphor of the poet language as a basic metaphor. The main metaphor has been divided to Sub-metaphors that proves the identity of the poet and his inherent identity in the language. There are many examples in this context and we are going to try to show and discussed it in this article.
