| 520 | |b The aim of this paper in general is to discuss the research methods used in recent Mass Communication studies through examining a sample of studies collected from the M.A theses and PhD dissertations that been defended and approved by the faculty of Arts at Alexandria university and from the jouranal of mass communication research. The researcher used the content analysis to find out the research topics and the methods used. The study found that the majority of the researchers were field studies while the minority was related to theoretical studies; it also found that the majority of the topics were related to cultural topics followed by the political topics in case of the journal sample while the political and social topics came first in the Theses sample. The majority of the field studies used content analysis and used both the quantitative and the qualitative analysis to the data. The result shed light on the importance of adopting new methods and approaching new topics that are more related to the current Egyptian realities and challenges. | ||
