المستخلص: تعد الجامعة الرصيد الاستراتيجي الذي يرتكز عليه أي مجتمع لتجسير دعائم التقدم ودفع حركة التنمية، باعتبارها مركزا للإشعاع الفكري وتقدم العلوم، وعنصر دافع في تشكيل حياة المجتمعات، وتطورها، وبقدر كفاءتها وجودة أدائها يكون تقدم المجتمع ورقيه، علاوة على ذلك فأنها تمثل سبيلا هاما للتنافس والتنمية الاقتصادية، وامداد المجتمع بالكوادر البشرية المؤهلة والمدربة والقادرة على المشاركة في حل مشكلاته وقضاياه ورسم مستقبله، فمصير المجتمعات أصبح يرتبط الان دون شك في جانب كبير منه بجامعة كفء قادرة على تحقيق أداء مؤسسي قوي، يساهم في دفع حركة التقدم الحضاري، وتحقيق الآمال والطموحات التي تنشدها منها المجتمعات على الأصعدة كافة، ولاسيما مع بداية الألفية الثالثة، حيث بدأت كثير من الجامعات الجادة مراجعة وتقويم أداءها، وتحليل نقاط القوة والضعف، وتحديد فرص التطوير وخياراته، حتى يكون لها موضع ضمن خارطة الجامعات العالمية، يضمن لها البقاء والاستمرارية والتنافسية، وبناء المستقبل المنشود. بناء على ما سبق، وفي سبيل الوصول إلى أداء مؤسسي جامعي ناجح، هدف البحث الحالي إلى توضيح أهمية التفكير الاستراتيجي وأهدافه، والتعرف على أهم العوامل التي تؤثر في أداء الجامعات المصرية، مع محاولة تحديد أهم نقاط القوة والضعف في أداء الجامعات المصرية بالتركيز على تشخيص الواقع الحالي لوظائفها الثلاث (التعليم، والبحث العلمي، المشاركة المجتمعية)، فضلا عن تقديم رؤية مقترحة لتعزيز الأداء المؤسسي للجامعات المصرية في ضوء فلسفة التفكير الاستراتيجي.

University is the strategic the strategic balance on which any society is based upon, as a center for intellectual enlightenment, advancing science, and a driving force in the movement of societies change and development, the more efficiency and quality of its performance the more progress of society and its development. Moreover, it represents an important way to competitiveness, economic sustainable development and provide community with trained and qualified persons who can participate in solving its problems and issues and to shape its future. The fate of societies is now undoubtedly linked to a large part by the efficient university capable of achieving institutional performance that contributes to advancing civilization progress movement sought by nations and achieving hopes and aspirations for nations specially with the beginning of the third millennium. Many universities have begun to review and assess their performance, analyze their strengths and weaknesses, and identify the development opportunities and options, so that they can have a position within the map of global universities, ensuring their survival, sustainability and achieving their competitive and Building the desired future. Based on what mentioned above to achieve a successful institutional performance, the current study aims to clarify the importance of strategic thinking and its objectives, and to identify the most important factors affecting Egyptian universities performance, while trying to identify the most important strengths and weaknesses in Egyptian universities performance, focusing on (Education, scientific research, community participation), as well as presenting a suggested vision to enhance the institutional performance of Egyptian universities in terms of the philosophy of strategic thinking.
