This report deals with the transformation of US policy towards the Palestinian issue since the US president Donald Trump election in 2016, and the international reactions to this change. In its response to the US decision to acknowledge Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the moving of its embassy there, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution that rejects changing realities on the ground in Jerusalem. The US administration also failed to pass a resolution to condemn Hamas and other Palestinian factions. The report discussed the details of this US failure in the UN, its background and political implications, and came up with these conclusions: 1. The transformation of the US policy in regards to the Palestinian issue, adopting a unilateral policy that led to widening the gap with its allies in terms of their view towards a solution for this issue. This weakened its role as mediator between the Palestinians and Israelis in favor of other potential international players, with the EU, Russia and China still holding on to their vision in achieving lasting peace that is based on the solution of the two states and international legitimacy resolutions. 2. The US administration lack of awareness to the dimensions of the Palestinian issue, and its failure to influence international public opinion, represented in the UN, decreases the chances of success of its new vision to settle the Palestinian issue. 3. The unilateral US policies and abandoning coordination with its western allies, in addition to lack of respect for international legitimacy resolutions, weakens its role and influence in the international initiative and leadership in the international community. It also weakens its role in the UN and its contribution to achieving international peace and security. 4. Arab and Islamic efforts in the Palestinian issue and the right of the Palestinian people, proved its ability to make a difference in the International community, which confirms the importance of the Arab and Islamic depth of the Palestinian issue, in addition to the fact that the unity of the Palestinian position, especially in the issue of condemning Hamas and other Palestinian factions, was a lever to the Palestinian issue.
