International brands and local shops compete to design the best viewing windows for every occasion, and they use specialized design companies that charge fortunes to create the best. Showroom windows are an important way to attract people into the store, which plays a big role in moving the consumer's emotion which is reflected either positively or negatively on sales. Design in the general sense is the process of formation and innovation, i.e. collecting elements from the environment and placing them in a specific composition to give something that has a function or meaning. Some differentiate between composition and design on the grounds that composition is part of the design process because design involves human thought and personal experiences.
The design of display windows is the art of managing space or room and all its dimensions in a way that exploits all design elements in an aesthetic way that helps to attract attention. It is about planning and innovation based on certain data and bringing this planning into existence and then implementing it in all places and spaces using different materials and appropriate colors at the appropriate cost. Display windows play a key role in guiding purchasing behavior, as purchasing behavior is the ultimate goal of marketing communications. The impact of advertising is visible at every stage of the buying process. In the first stage, it works to bring out needs, and the display window can make consumers think about buying products they would not have thought before. In the second stage, the display window provides information about the product. In the third stage, the design of the window helps the consumer to identify the characteristics of the product, and the advertisement in the fourth stage of the purchase process can influence the participants in the purchase decision which represents an indirect effect on the consumer at the stage of making a purchase decision.
The research aims to find innovative design criteria using optical illusions in which the novelty, modernity and attractiveness of the display window is achieved by analyzing some of the selected models of display windows in order to find out the strengths and weaknesses and the impact of using optical illusions on the recipient as a new strategy. The research also includes a questionnaire on a sample of 100 multinational individuals, varying between males and females, and the majority of the age group is between 20-40 years.
The research is based on evaluating the impact of using optical illusions on the following scales: (1) Awareness scale: It measures the degree of an individual’s attention to the display window and his focus on the ideas presented in the advertising message. (2) Knowledge Scale: It measures the extent to which the display window is able to provide consumers with the necessary information about the goods. (3) Attention Scale: It measures the level of interest devoted by the consumer to the content of the display window, which reflects the extent to which the consumer understands and comprehends the advertisement. (4) Desire scale: It enables to identify the expected behavior of the consumer in the direction of making a purchase. (5) Action (Behaviour) Scale: It measures the apparent behavioral response elicited by the display window.
