This study aimed at examining the cognitive style (field dependence / independence) and its relationship with the level of aspiration of the secondary school students at Kufranjeh district in light of variables of gender and family financial status. The sample consisted of (300) male/female students, selected by the stratified sample method. To achieve the goal of the study the researcher used the group embedded figures test developed by (Witkin, et al., 1971), and adjusted for the Jordanian environment by (Eliyan and Awad, 1986).The researcher also developed a tool to measure the level of aspiration consisting of (36) paragraphs. The study outcome showed that: the prevailing cognitive style among students is the independent. There are differences of statistical significance between the main of the grades of the study sample concerning the cognitive style attributed to gender and for the advantage of the males. There are no differences of statistical significance concerning the cognitive style attributed to family financial status. The study sample proved a high level of aspiration, and there are no differences of statistical significance concerning the level of aspiration attributed to gender and family financial status. Finally, the study outcome pinpointed a positive relationship of statistical significance between the cognitive style and the level of aspiration among the secondary school students at Kufranjeh district.
