المستخلص: هدفت الدراسة إلى تعرف أهم دواعي استخدام طلبة كلية التربية الأساسية بدولة الكويت لتطبيق (الواتساب) في الأغراض التعليمية، وأهم الاستخدامات ورصد أهم صعوبات استخدام التطبيق من وجهة نظرهم. واعتمدت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي لتحقيق أهدافها. وتكونت العينة من (322) طالباً وطالبة. وأظهرت النتائج أن أهم دواعي استخدام الطلبة لتطبيق الواتساب هي الحاجة لقناة تواصل فوري مع الزملاء للوقوف على آخر مستجدات العملية التعليمية والتشاور العلمي، من خلال الرسائل القصيرة، خاصة أنه تطبيق سهل الاستخدام ويتمتع بميزة حفظ الملفات والصور العلمية وتخزينها وكذلك المحادثات. وقد كشفت النتائج أن الطلبة يستخدمون هذا التطبيق بدرجة كبيرة في استخدامات عديدة في العملية التعليمية من أهمها متابعة كل ما يستجد من معلومات وأخبار حول المواد الدراسية، والمشاركة في طرح الأفكار وتبادلها، وإجراء الحوار والنقاش مع الزملاء وأعضاء هيئة التدريس حول المسائل العلمية والمقررات. كما أشارت النتائج إلى أنهم يستخدمونه في تكوين مجموعات لتبادل المعلومات الخاصة بالمقررات الدراسية، وشرح الدروس، والإعلام بمواعيد الاختبارات. وأفادت إجابات العينة بأن أهم الصعوبات التي تواجههم عند استخدام التطبيق تتمثل في ضعف شبكة الإنترنت في مباني الكلية، الأمر الذي يصعب من تحميل بعض الملفات، وضعف فرص التواصل مع الأساتذة. كما كشفت النتائج عن عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في تقدير هذه الدواعي والاستخدامات والصعوبات من قبل الطلبة بالكلية تبعاً لمتغير الجنس (ذكر/ أنثى) وكذلك لمتغير التخصص الدراسي (علمي/ أدبي).

The study aimed to identify the most important indications for the use of (WhatsApp) application by students of the Faculty of Basic Education in the State of Kuwait for educational purposes, point out its main uses, and monitor the major difficulties for using the application from the students’ point of view. To achieve its goals, the study adopted the descriptive analytical approach. Respondents consisted of (322) male and female students; and findings showed that the most important indications for using WhatsApp by students are: their need for an instant communication channel with their colleagues to reflect on the latest developments in the educational process, and also their need for scientific advice, through short messages, especially since WhatsApp is an easy-to-use application, and has the advantage of storing scientific files, images and conversations. Findings also revealed that students largely use this application for various purposes in the educational process, the most important of which are: to keep up with the latest information and developments about academic subjects, participate in presenting and exchanging ideas, and conduct dialogues and discussions with colleagues and faculty members on scientific issues and courses. Moreover, findings indicated that students use WhatsApp to create groups for exchanging information about the curricula, explaining the lessons, and announcing the exam dates. Respondents indicated that the major difficulties they face when using the application are: a weak Internet connection in the faculty buildings, which makes it difficult to download some files, and a lack of opportunities to communicate with the teachers. Findings also revealed that there were no statistically significant differences in assessing these indications, uses and difficulties by students of the Faculty based on the variables of gender (i.e., male / female) as well as academic specialization (i.e., science / arts).
