يهدف البحث الحالي التعرف إلى: ١. حل الغموض اللغوي لدى طلبة الجامعة. ٢. الفروق في حل الغموض اللغوي لدى طلبة الجامعة تبعا لمتغيرات النوع (ذكور، إناث) والتخصص (علمي، إنساني). وتحقيقا لأهداف البحث، قام الباحثان ببناء أداة لغرض قياس (حل الغموض اللغوي)، معتمدان على الإطار النظري لنظرية جست وكاربنتر (Just & Carpenter, 1992) في حل الغموض اللغوي، وبعد أن تحقق الباحثان من الخصائص السايكومترية للمقياس من خلال استخراج الصدق والقوة التمييزية ومعامل الارتباط بين درجة الفقرة والدرجة الكلية للمقياس، إذ بلغ ثبات اختبار حل الغموض اللغوي (0.85) بطريقة إعادة الاختبار، و(0.71) بطريقة ألفا كرونباخ، وبلغ عدد فقرات المقياس بصيغته النهائية (٣٠) فقرة، قام الباحثان بتطبيق المقياس على عينة عشوائية من طلبة الجامعة بلغت (٦٠٠) طالبا وطالبة، وفقا لمتغير النوع الاجتماعي (ذكور، إناث)، التخصص (علمي، إنساني)، الصف (الثاني، الرابع)، وبعد جمع البيانات ومعالجتها إحصائيا باستعمال الاختبار التائي لعينة واحدة، الاختبار التائي لعينتين مستقلتين، ومعامل ارتباط بيرسون، توصل الباحثان إلى ما يأتي: 1. تمتع عينة البحث الحالي بالقدرة على حل الغموض اللغوي ٢. توجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في حل الغموض اللغوي لدى طلبة الجامعة تبعا لمتغيرات النوع (ذكور- إناث) ولصالح الذكور، وتوجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية تبعا لمتغيرات التخصص (علمي- إنساني) ولصالح التخصص الإنساني. وقد خرج البحث بجملة من التوصيات والمقترحات.
