المستخلص: تعرف هذه الدراسة تعابير التلطف الاصطلاحية القرآنية، وتبين صعوبات ترجمتها إلى الإنجليزية، ومجالات استثمارها في الخطاب القرآني، وتناقش من الوجهة التقابلية إمكانية ترجمة التعابير الدالة على الكبر والبخل والذل، فتقف على ثلاث ترجمات مختارة لمعاني القرآن الكريم، هي: "The Meaning of the Glorious Qu'ran: Text, Translation and Commentary" لعبدالله يوسف علي، و"The Message of The Qur'an Qur'an" لمحمد أسد، و"Towards Understanding The Ever Glorious Qur'an" لمحمد محمود غالي، وترصد مدى وعي المترجمين بهذا النمط الدلالي في الخطاب القرآني، ووسائلهم في ترجمته، ومراعاتهم إيجاد المقابلات المكافئة في ترجماتهم، ومدى ملاءمتها للمتلقين في الثقافة الإنجليزية. وتظهر الدراسة تغلغل تعابير التلطف الاصطلاحية في نسيج الخطاب القرآني، وتعدد مجالاتها الدلالية فيه، وصعوبات ترجمتها إلى الإنجليزية؛ لصياغتها، ودلالاتها الثقافية، وارتباطها النصي بالقرآن الكريم. كما تظهر إشكالية ترجمتها في الترجمات المختارة، فيبدو القصور غالبا في نقل النماذج الدالة على الكبر والبخل والذل إلى الإنجليزية، سواء أكان ذلك نتيجة الاتكاء على ترجمة المعنى، التي تسلب وحدة التعبير الدلالية، وبلاغة صياغته، وتلغي تلطيف عبارته واعتدالها في التعبير عن المعاني المستكرهة، أم الاتكاء على الترجمة الحرفية، التي قد تخفي دلالته المقصودة، أو تجعل اقتراناته اللفظية مستغلقة على فهم الناطقين بالإنجليزية.

This study clarifies the notion and the contextual functions of Qur'anic Euphemistic Idioms, investigates from a contrastive perspective, the problems of translating them (Euphemistic Idioms) to English. It examines, in particular, translatability of Reprehensible Moral Traits Idioms, namely within the field of arrogance, greed and humiliation, via reviewing three selected English translations of the Holy Qur'an: The Meaning of the Glorious Qur'an: Text, Translation and Commentary, by Abdullah Y. Ali, The Message of The Qur'an, The study reveals the importance of the semantic powerful functions, which are related to Euphemistic Idioms in shaping the style of the Qur'anic discourse, and it shows the difficulties of translating them into English; as their formulation, cultural implications, and correlated to the text of the Holy Qur'an. It, also, shows that most of the targeted Idioms renditions, within the selected translations haven't been preserved and translators sacrificed their characteristic flavour, as they adopted paraphrasing, literally and meaning rendering strategies, which influenced negatively the informativity and splendour of original patterns. Finally, the study suggests following an exhaustive survey in the English technical dictionaries, equivalents that may contribute to alleviation of the problem and be of good benefit for the coming Qur'an translations, as they approximate original source patterns, comprehensible and accepted by modern English receptors.
