The school manual, an essential pedagogical tool, is omnipresent in Algeria and around the world. Inconceivable in an educational institution without them, these manuals are sometimes overlooked despite their crucial impact on sensitizing young people to reading. Their quality, both in presentation and content, should eliminate the perception of being tedious and instead, stimulate the curiosity of readers. In many countries, they dominate the publishing market, constituting the economic foundation of the educational sector in developing countries. In Algeria, the history of school manuals since 1962 has undergone significant developments with the creation of structures such as the National Office of School Publications (ONPS), responsible for providing schools with manuals for different cycles free of charge. However, the persistent challenge, also faced by Algeria, is to ensure the supply of manuals for the entire education system, requiring considerable resources due to the complexities related to production and distribution. Le manuel scolaire, un outil pédagogique essentiel, est omniprésent en Algérie et dans le monde. Inconcevable dans une institution éducative sans eux, ces manuels sont parfois négligés malgré leur impact crucial sur la sensibilisation des jeunes à la lecture. Leur qualité, à la fois dans la présentation et le contenu, devrait éliminer la perception de rébarbatif et susciter la curiosité des lecteurs. Dans de nombreux pays, ils dominent le marché de l’édition, constituant l’assise économique du secteur éducatif dans les pays en développement. En Algérie, l’histoire des manuels scolaires depuis 1962 a connu des évolutions marquantes avec la création de structures telles que l’Office National des Publications Scolaires (ONPS), chargé de fournir gratuitement les écoles en manuels pour différents cycles. Cependant, le défi persistant, également rencontré par l’Algérie, est de garantir la fourniture de manuels pour l’ensemble du système éducatif, nécessitant des ressources considérables en raison des complexités liées à la production et à la distribution.
