المستخلص: يلعب السمع دوراً رئيسياً في نمو الإنسان، فحاسة السمع هي التي تجعل الإنسان قادراً على تعلم اللغة، وهي حجر الزاوية بالنسبة لتطور السلوك الاجتماعي. كذلك فإن حاسة السمع تمكن الإنسان من فهم بيئته ومعرفة المخاطر الموجودة فيها فتدفعه إلى تجنبها، فحدوث أي خلل في هذه الحاسة ينجم عنه عدة صعوبات منها الإعاقة السمعية. هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى التعرف على الإعاقة السمعية، المؤشرات التي تدل على وجود مشكلة بالسمع، الأسباب المؤدية للإعاقة السمعية، كما تم التطرق إلى خصائص الأفراد المعاقين وطرق التواصل معهم. ومن خلال ما سبق تمحورت الدراسة حول إشكالية تمثلت في: ما هي خصائص ذوي الإعاقة السمعية وما هي طرق التواصل معهم؟ وفي الأخير خلصت هذه الدراسة إلى النتائج التالية: - الإعاقة السمعية هي خلل وظيفي يحول دون قيام الجهاز السمعي بوظائفه وهو نتيجة عوامل وراثية أو خلقية أو بيئية يترتب عنها آثار اجتماعية ونفسية؛ - تتعدد أسباب الإعاقة وتصنف في ثلاث أنواع وهي عوامل تحدث قبل الولادة وعوامل تحدث أثناء الولادة وعوامل تحدث بعد الولادة.

Hearing plays a major role in human development. The sense of hearing is what makes a person able to learn language, and it is the cornerstone for the development of social behaviour. Likewise, the sense of hearing enables a person to understand his environment and know the dangers that exit in it, which motivates him to avoid them. Any defect in this sense results in difficulties, including hearing impairment. This study aimed to identify the hearing disability, the indicators that indicate the presence of a hearing problem, the cause leading to the hearing disability, and the characteristics of the disabled individuals and ways of communicating with them were also addressed. Through the foregoing, the study focused on a problem represented in: What are the characteristics of people with hearing disabilities and what are the ways of communicating with them?. Genetic, congenital or environmental factors that result in social and psychological effects: - There are many causes of disability and they are classified into three types: factors that occur before birth, factors that occur during childbirth, and factors that occur after birth. - There are several ways of communicating with people with hearing disabilities and they are compatible with the degree and type of their disability.
