The basis of exceptionally difficult translation has been established. The study adopts Relevance Theory to explore how translators are able to strike a balance between keeping the original language intact and transforming it into other cultures, to maintain both the emotional and intellectual force of the story. Key challenges include translating Haig’s vivid metaphors, idiomatic phrases, and cultural references in a way that connects with new audiences while staying faithful to the original. The study emphasizes the need for a flexible approach, showing that word-for-word translation often fails to capture the subtleties of Nora’s journey. Instead, it suggests a freer style of translation, guided by a deep understanding of the story’s heart.
