The present study aimed to analyze the metacognitive strategies used by hearing-impaired students in reading English as a foreign language. The researcher designed three tools to analyze these strategies. The tools consisted of a word association exercise, a multiple-choice exercise and a passage with deleted words. The researcher used the verbal protocol technique to elicit information from the hearing-impaired students while answering the exercises. The findings of the study proved the ability of hearing-impaired students to use metacognitive strategies in a way that helped them construct meaning.
