The study aims at examining the effectiveness of an instructional program based on Self-Regulated Strategy Development model for developing some functional writing skills (Format, Organization, Content, Vocabulary, Grammar and Mechanics) in some functional writing fields (Letter, E-mail, Report, Memo, Article, and Summary writing). The quasi experimental group of thirty students at Al-Azhar University-Gaza, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Science was the participants of the study. Several instruments validated by a panel of EFL specialists, were used to achieve the study purposes namely; the SRSD instructional program, pre¬post functional writing tests, a functional writing skills checklist and a correction rubric. Pair- sample T-Test was employed for data analysis. Findings revealed large effects on overall functional writing and functional writing sub-skills, which indicated the effectiveness of the Self-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD) instructional program in developing students' functional writing performance.
