The present study aimed at exploring the relationship between intelligence, components of emotional intelligence and the level of academic achievement of a sample of university students in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The sample consisted of 130 students (equally divided between male and female) studying at the Department of Psychology and Department of Sociology, College of Mass Communication and Humanities, Ajman University (Fujairah campus), UAE. The Youth Intelligence (Hamid Zahran, 1977) and the Emotional Intelligence Test (Rushdie FAM, et al. (2001) were applied to them. GPA for all participants were obtained also. The results show a positive relationship between intelligence and emotional intelligence components for male group, female group and whole sample. Results also show a statistically significant main effect of both intelligence and most of the components of emotional intelligence on academic achievement, except perfection. In contrast, the main effect of the student's gender was not statistically significant, nor did there appear to be a statistically significant effect on the interaction between the student's sex and critical thinking skills and the components of emotional intelligence on academic achievement, except perfection. The results were discussed in light of the available literatures.
