This study investigates the influence of tone on the interpretation of literary texts, employing a mixed-methods approach involving a questionnaire for students and interviews with teachers. The research includes 56 third-year students and three teachers of English as a foreign language from the ENSL department, who share their perceptions on how tone shapes the interpretation of literary works and influences students' responses to aesthetic and stylistic elements. Quantitative analysis of the questionnaire data was performed using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences), a software for statistical analysis. Thematic analysis, a method for scrutinizing qualitative data, was employed for analyzing the interview responses. The findings reveal a widespread awareness among participants regarding the crucial role of tone in facilitating literary interpretation. Consequently, the research questions are validated, and the study effectively underscores the importance of recognizing literary devices in shaping readers' understanding and engagement with texts in a more accessible and adaptable manner.
